About Dr. McGrath, from the Alexian Brothers Behavior Health Hospital website:
Dr. Patrick B. McGrah is the Director of the Center for Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD) and the Co-Director of the School Anxiety and School Refusal Program at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates. His extensive training and expertise working with Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy and Anxiety Disorders were fundamental in the development of the School Refusal/School Anxiety program.
School anxiety, avoidance, and refusal have become all too common in our classrooms today. During the course of their development many children and adolescents experience school-related anxiety in various ways. For some, school anxiety will manifest into school avoidance which may impact attendance, academic performance, social interactions, family relationships, and physical health. Without proper intervention, these problems can have a profound effect on both the family and a student’s chance for success.
Dr. McGrath has authored a stress management workbook called “Don’t Try Harder, Try Different” as well as “The OCD Answer Book.” Dr. McGrath has also been featured in many newspapers, journals, magazines, and has been on numerous radio and television programs across the country.
The 2E in 204 Group is a subcommittee of Indian Prairie Project Arrow PTA.
